Through your favourite messaging app WhatsApp, you will be able to send money to your friends and family soon. This multi-awaited feature has been seen in the Beta version of the Android app released this week of Facebook-owned WhatsApp which shows support to Whatsapp UPI payments feature.
According to the WABetaInfo Blog, WhatsApp has a separate page for the payment feature in Android 2.17.285 beta that is still hidden. And this blog has also shared a picture of this feature. By seeing this picture, it can be learnt that by using the UPI through Whatsapp, the money can be transferred from one bank to the other. The UPI works with Aadhar card base. With the use of the UPI, money will be transferred from one bank to another bank immediately, as the UPI works on the IMPS protocol.
Many other popular messaging services such as Wechat and Hike Messenger have already given payment service support. However, after the arrival of this support in Whatsapp, there will be an increase in digital payments in India. Let us know that this popular messaging app is used by more than 200 million people in India.
Last year, with the Demonetization, the number of mobile payment apps such as Paytm and Mobikwik’s transaction and the number of user base increased rapidly. However, none of these Active users is equal to Whatsapp users. Interestingly, Whatsapp has now been preparing to challenge Paytm and Mobile Wallet App Paytm is also planning to launch the new messaging feature soon.
